QrScanner
Point, scan, done. A scanner for everyday codes that gets out of the way.
Android package: com.qrscan.code.appmobile.app
The idea
An Android app for people who scan a menu, a parcel label or a Wi-Fi code a few times a week and want the result immediately.
Most people open a scanner with one hand, in poor light, often while doing something else. Any screen between opening the app and seeing the result is friction. The brief we set ourselves was simple: the camera should be ready the moment the app appears, and the result should tell you what you can do with it.
What we built
We built the app around a single camera screen. Recognition runs on each frame, and as soon as a code is read the app shows a card that understands what it found: a link opens in the browser, a Wi-Fi code offers to connect, a contact card offers to save. Scans are kept in a history on the device so nothing gets lost.
Features
- Camera opens straight into scanning mode
- QR codes and common barcodes such as EAN-13 and Code 128
- Actions based on content: open link, copy text, join Wi-Fi, save contact
- Scan from an image already in the gallery
- Torch toggle and pinch to zoom for difficult conditions
- Scan history stored on the device
How it differs from QrScanner Pro
QrScanner is the focused product: it scans a code and offers the right action. Its sibling, QrScanner Pro, runs on the same recognition core and adds continuous scanning, a code generator, organised history and CSV export for people who work with codes every day.
