Modern PHP is typed, fast and well tooled. We use Laravel for product backends that need authentication, subscriptions and an admin area quickly, and Symfony for larger systems with complex business rules. When we inherit an older PHP project, we set up static analysis with PHPStan, add automated tests around the API endpoints the mobile app depends on, and upgrade the PHP version in planned steps. Even this website handles its contact form with a small, dependency-free PHP script.
